Wiring kit from Painless wiring

Tools requrired for the job:

3/4, 1/2, 5/16 inch drill bits Small Hammer
wire cutters/strippers/crimpers Center punch
Small 12 volt test lamp standard combination wrenches

Disc grinder

First thing you need to do is remove the old battery and remove the tray. Useing a grinder cut off all the outter edges on the tray to make it flat. then remount it back into the truck.

After you remount the stock battery tray you need to mount the two new tray on top of it. I went to the local Kragen and picked up two battery trays for 4.99 each. They are plastic and really cheap but they do the job. Bolt both of the trays onto the stock tray next to each other. The only down side to mounting the batteries this way is in the Bronco it is just about inposible to change the head light. Need to remove the batteris again to do it.

Next mount the batteries to the tray. Kragen also sell the hold down kit. Only one hold down kit is necessary. Mount the hold down to the outside battery and leave the inside battery free. The way the hold downs are made they are too wide to put next to each other. For the other battery use a piece of metal to cover the batter and tighten it down.

Next decide where you want to mount the battery isolator. Best place is right next to the battery so you do not need to run long 1 guage cable all over. I chose to mount mine under the hood spring on the passenger side wheel wheel. Then connect the main battery to the isolator and then to the starter, leaveing the ground unconnected. Next will be the switch mount.

I chose to mount mine on the dash next to the arb switches. Drill the necessory holes and mount the switch and indicator lights. Run all the apropate wires and grounds. Then move back to the engine bay. Click the picture to get a better look at the switche and lights.

Once back to the engine run battery cables were needed. Recommended to use 2 guage cable, I used 1 guage. Ground the main battery to the engine and the second battery to the frame. Hook it all up and test. Included in the painless kit are very detailed instructions for wireing. Easy to install and works great.
