Front Rock Bumper
The latest modification to Project TJ is a new front bumper. When I started looking for front bumpers I was looking for it to have the following things: improved approach angle, ability to mount a winch and be strong enough to jack off of it. I searched for a long time to find all of these things. Finally when I came across the Toys by Troy Web site their bumper had everything I was looking for and more.. I called them up order it, and it was here in a few days. I was now ready to install the bumper on my Jeep. |
| The first step is to remove the stock Jeep bumper. There are 6 bolts to be removed (4 on the top and 2 on the bottom). They are a Torx 55 or T-55. Remove the top four bolts. |

Now you can remove the bottom two bolts. Be careful when you remove the last bolt or the bumper may come off. |
| Now remove the stock bumper. |
Bring over the Toys by Troy bumper and place it on the frame. |
| Line up the top holes on both sides. Optional next step is for installation of tow hooks. If tow hooks are not needed, reinstall the stock bolts on top. |

I went and bought after market tow hooks at my local 4 wheel drive store. If you have stock tow hooks they will work great, but if you buy after market tow hooks you will need longer bolts, 3/4 inch bolts-2 1/2 -3 inches long . |
| Now install the bottom bolts. using the stock bolts. |
I also ordered the optional light bar mount for the bumper. Put the threaded bolt in about half way. Then put the smaller bolt in and tighten all the way down. |

| Well once again Toys by Troy makes a top notch product. The bumper was very easy to install took about 1/2 hour to do. You can install this bumper with not a lot of tools or mechanical skill. Here are some of the added benefits : improved approach angle, a place to mount you Hi lift jack and the added protection for you radiator. This is a great investment. | ![]() |
