We had a pool running on what tank top Bill would be
wearing for the trip. He surprised us with a new one he picked up in
Hawaii recently. At least I called the purple sweatshirt for
breakfast. I handed over the new ball joint to Bill,
and he was still working with Don on drilling out the sheared bolts
from the A-arm. |

The McFly look alike in a black 4Runner was
having a hard time making it up the trail I went up. He had the
prerunner fiberglass fenders and a noisier hamster- I mean engine,
than Ryan. Ryan, being Ryan, went over to show him how it was done.
After Ryan made it up, prerunner 4Runner made it up with just enough
momentum. Not to be outdone, Ryan went over and did the hill in
reverse.... Then he moved over to the big, eroded trail. He was
heading up up up until he slipped into the 4Runner eating hole. He got
himself into a precarious, off-camber situation and I wasn't sure if
the engine would fire up. After some convincing, it started and he
slowly, slowly backed out of it, putting the second dent for the day
in the door. |

Easy..... |
| Bill and Don stayed to finish up the ball joint while the
rest of us headed over to the obstacle course. There was the usual
amount of people for a Saturday afternoon. No one seriously
tried to do the mud bog. Instead, most of the people were gathered
around the frame twister. Two older Jeeps were stuck on the first
telephone poles while their buddy worked to get them free. I was
waiting for them to clear out so I could take a shot at the sloppy
course. |

Eventually I got stuck with only one telephone pole
to climb before getting out. I succeeded in getting my truck
filthy, though. Chris came over and gave me a pull out to dry
land. All my repairs held together, even after I tried the
throttle approach to get out.
We set out for Hector's Heights via some fun trails and the rock quarry.
We all played on the hill climbs and JB and Chris were thinking
about how much sweeter life will be with at least one locker.
