 Hollister Hills SVRA is by far the best 4x4 destination within a reasonable distance from the Bay Area. Hollister has many trails rated from easy (green circle), more difficult (blue square), most difficult (black diamond). The park also offers a 4x4 obstacle course, campgrounds, restrooms, and a very helpful ranger's station. Every June, the park is also home of the Top Truck Challenge presented by Four Wheeler magazine. 
 To get to the park, simply cruise south on main street and follow the signs that will eventually direct you down Cienega road and the ranger station. The cost is $5 a vehicle ($10 to camp) and includes a trail map as well as re-entry privileges for the day.
